Lovely details and textures. I think I prefer it cropped this way...the original painting was skillfully done but I didn't like the composition [specifically the arm coming out of the corner]

Adding the arm into the composition gives it a different meaning, also signifies his character, my son always sits like this, it's how we know him. Also when being specific it's helpful to say why you don't like something.

Alright. I'll clarify by saying that it's distracting to have things coming exactly out of corners, it draws the eye away from the piece. Especially in this case because of the relative brightness of his arm/hand.
